Welcome to 2022- Ancient Japanese “Killing Stone” splits open

If you thought 2021 was the worst year ever, 2022 is clearly asking for its beer to be held.

In Japan, an ancient “killing stone,” located near Tokyo has split open, and, according to legend, has released an evil demon that has been inside the stone for over 1,000 years. The stone was supposed to contain the spirit of Tamomo-No-Mae, (translated to ‘the nine-tailed fox) a demon who took the form of beautiful woman. This woman was part of a plot to murder Emperor Toba, who was the ruler of Japan from 1107 to 1123. For reasons we can’t begin to understand, the stone has become a tourist hot spot.

Believers are worried that things will turn ugly with the spirit now on the loose. Not to be too pessimistic, but, how will we tell the difference?
