Now Gorillas Can Get Covid?

As if this pandemic wasn’t terrible enough, and if we as a society haven’t suffered enough, the Atlanta Zoo has new that, frankly, really shakes our banana tree.

The zoo has announced that 20 of their gorillas have experienced Covid-like symptoms and 13 have tested positive. We’re assuming isolation is already underway. The zoo is the home of Ozzie, the oldest living gorilla in captivity. No word if he is among the afflicted. The virus was apparently spread by a fully vaccinated zoo employee who was asymptomatic.

While we hope that all the animals experience a full recovery, it is also a good time to remind everyone: vaccinate your gorilla, please.
