Philadelphians Bow Down to 800 lb Butter Sculpture
In Philadelphia, they love a few things; Rocky, Cheese Steaks, being from Philadelphia and, of course, Gritty.
Gritty is the orange… thing that cheers on the city’s NHL team, the Flyers. Fans instantly took to Gritty, making him a local celebrity. And one couple took this love of Gritty to an extreme, creating a sculpture of the icon out of butter. How much does butter Gritty weigh? That would be 800 pounds.
The sculpture was created by a local couple, who have sculpted several iconic people in butter. The substance used is what they call ‘waste butter,’ which is butter that is cast off and not edible. We apologize if this story made you salivate. Go grab some Land o’ Lakes instead.
