Asbestos, Quebec Has Trouble Finding a New Name

Here’s something that you think someone would’ve done a while ago. In Quebec Canada, the town Asbestos is considering a name change. And, if that isn’t crazy enough, the change may be delayed after residents expressed disappointment with the other names that they were considering. What were these names? How offensive could they be? Well, not all that much. The names they rejected were Phenix, Apalone, Trois-Lacs and Jeffery. Who doesn’t want to live in a town named Jeffrey?

While the search for a better name considers, we’re frankly disappointed no one has offered up Love Canal.

(And if this story isn’t crazy enough, the town of Swastika, NY has voted to keep their name.)
