Flash’s June Update

Hey! It’s July!

That’s got to be worth celebrating, right?

Anyhoo, things are continuing to look better and better down on Why? street. We’ve had a great month with the show, seeing some truly amazing guests.

We started off the month talking with Olympic synchronized swimmer Anita Alvarez. She was on the US team in Rio in 2016 and is on the team again for whenever the Olympics are eventually held in Tokyo. Not to sound like a recently enlightened jackass, but synchronized swimming is hard. And we only really learned how hard when we got to talk with Anita.

Our second episode had a great response. But any episode we do involving nudity usually does. (Shocker) This month’s sexy/not sexy interview was with Jeff Dawson, who holds the record for most naked skydives. He founded a group dedicated to increasing the visibility of the activity. And when you join the group, you get a t-shirt. Yes, Jeff sees the irony in this. In case you wondered what such a sport looked like, wonder no more:

You’re welcome.

The following week was a real treat as we talked with Sarah Jett Rayburn. Sarah was a four-time Jeopardy champion this past February. On top of that, she gained some extra attention when she became the first Jeopardy player to try to explain her thought process in her Final Jeopardy answer. Alex talked it over with her. It was pretty funny. Sarah was great to talk to and we are now friends on Facebook. (Not that it affects your life one bit.)

The following week we talked with Scott Weiner from Scott’s Pizza Tours in New York. He is a pizza expert and explained the history of pizza, debated with us over what is the definition of a pizza and explained why Ray’s in New York is actually famous. Scott also holds the world record for owning over 15,000 pizza boxes. (Don’t worry, they aren’t used.)

We had so much to talk about with Scott, that we had to cut our entire conversation about his pizza box collection and instead used it as the basis for a video on our YouTube page.

And that’s something else we’ve really started pushing. Every week we are posting new content on our YouTube page. Sometimes it’s bonus content, including outtakes from our interviews, and sometimes it’s just a visual example of what we’re talking about. (What better way to understand the challenge of synchro swimming than watching actual synchro swimming?) We are adding at least one new piece of content to our YouTube page every week, which also allows additional opportunities for promoting. One of our recent clips included Naked & Afraid blur-er Erin Gavin talking about the show while we show clips from the show. Shockingly, it’s one of the more popular videos on our page. (What did we tell you? People love nudity.)

And then we ended out our month with a great guest- Leather Tuscadero herself- Suzi Quatro.

What more can you say about someone as influential as Suzi is? We were thrilled to talk to her. And because of the software we recorded the interview on, we were able to post video excerpts from our convo on our YouTube page. (Seriously, go check it out. We’ll wait.)

This was a huge thrill for us- partially because she is Suzi Quatro and partially because of the way we got her.

So where do we go from here? Can we possibly top June with July’s offerings? Could it possibly so good that you’ll ask yourself, ‘well, how did I get here?’ Honestly, we don’t know. We don’t even really know you all that well, so, how are we supposed to make such a large claim off so little evidence? All we do know is that you either really like seeing naked people or you like the sound of our voices. Who is to say? And if you like either of those things you’ll love July. We guarantee it.

*Note: We don’t guarantee it.
