Enjoy Your Weekend: Volunteers Clean Giant’s Erection by Hand

While in the US, most people are spending their holiday weekend relaxing and getting ready for the beginning of fall, other people in other parts of the world are cleaning a giant erection.

Maybe some more information is needed. The Cerne Abbas Giant, a figure in the earth in Dorset, England has been around since the 17th century. And, every few years, volunteers give the giant a hand in the manscaping department. They gather and make sure the 180 ft tall figure is going strong by cutting the grass and reapplying sand to make the figure visible.

Why was the giant created? What does it mean? These are questions lost to time, but these local volunteers make sure that the giant is standing tall and ready to go for another century, at least.
