Enjoy Getting This Out of Your Head: The Strange History of “Baby Shark”

You might think it’s a new thing. Or, if you have children under the age of 8, it might seem like it’s been going on forever.

“It” is the song “Baby Shark.” And if you’ve never heard of it, consider yourself blessed. Earlier this year, the CBC dug into the history, and it’s fascinating. For example, the tune is over 100 years old. This type of song has been around for longer. And numerous people are trying to claim they own the copyright. If we were going to make a bad pun, we might say it’s a feeding frenzy for the money this song is raking in, but we’re above that.
