Insurance Company May Owe $5.2mil for STD

This is a new one of us- a lawsuit that is insane and may actually be successful. (Usually the sort of suits we write about are tossed out of court wicked fast.)

A Missouri woman is suing GEICO for getting an STD. Let us explain…

This woman, in 2014, had unprotected sex in a car. The man, who owned the car, was insured by GEICO. And, when the man knowingly gave her HPV, and, because it happened in the car… well, GEICO had to pony up.

The insurance giant appealed the case multiple times, claiming they didn’t have a chance to present their side of the case, but, last week the state’s Court of Appeals, western district (named for the location, not because they wear cowboy hats… we checked) said GEICO had many chances to dispute.

A good reminder for all of us that when you have sex, make sure you put something on your gecko.
