Episode 72- The Obama Biden Mysteries with Andrew Shaffer

So, here’s the deal. The world’s in a heap of a mess right now and we need someone to sweep in and save the day. One of those legendary dynamic duos like Ponch and John, Starsky and Hutch, Cagney and Lacey, Biden and Barack…

Now hold up. Before you get your knickers in a bunch thinking we’re going to go on some political rant, we’re not. Why? is not a political show. We interview people from all walks of life an all sides of the aisle, under the aisle, down the aisle and beyond. Remember our interview with Rob and the Trump Unity Bridge? Ok, so now that we’ve got that clarified let’s get to the good stuff.

This week we’re talking to New York Times Bestseller author Andrew Shaffer about his mysteries Hope Never Dies and Hope Rides Again starring none other than Joe Biden and Barack Obama. The mysteries are damn good and very entertaining. We talked about Andrew’s process, why he chose the genre he did, and why he felt the former vice president was the perfect noir detective for his stories.

We discussed everything from whether or not the duo has read the books, what they think of it, and if he believes his stories have anything to do with Biden’s ascent on the current political front. He’s not saying that they do, but… look at the facts and you be the judge.

We chatted about Andrew’s other books that range almost as many genres as our show does including Fifty Shames of Earl Grey, How to Survive a Sharkando, Literary Rogues: A Scandalous History of Literary Authors and the upcoming holiday horror Secret Santa among many others. We even got the scoop on some of his ideas that didn’t make it to print such as his glorious plans for a series starring Hilary Clinton. We explored what’s in store for the Obama-Biden series for the future, especially if Joe’s presidential aspirations are realized this fall.

Being us, and sensing a kindred spirit, we went way off topic, as we often do, exploring deep and important material like tales of backstage at a Limp Bizkit concert.

We had so much fun talking to Andrew that we admit we’ve both listened to our own episode multiple times. Mostly because it makes us feel better during such a bleak time, but we’re also not so secretly hoping he’ll write a buddy cop story about us someday.

We think you’ll love our chat with Andrew too. He’s hilarious, smart and a great storyteller. Whether you’re team Joe or not, you’ll have a good time. Look, we’ll tell you all the same thing we told him when we asked him to be on the show, the whole world’s on lockdown what else do you have to do right now?
