Episode 69- Love is Blind with Mikey Cobb & Andy Rickert

By now we’re sure you’ve been sucked into the latest sensation taking the world of bingeworthy television. Yes, we’re talking about the Netflix mega hit Love is Blind. This show has taken viewers by storm with its unusual premise, speedy season, perplexing matchups and will they or won’t they engagements. There’s also the strange ‘host factor’ featuring the painfully adorable Vanessa and Nick Lachey who are onscreen maybe a total of two minutes the entire show.

The most bizarre and intriguing part of all though is the fact that the show starts off by introducing you to 15 gorgeous guys and 15 gorgeous gals only to rip most of them away from viewers after mere seconds of screen time. Fortunately, your friends at Why? thanks to our friends at The Love Podpodcast introduced us to two of the handsome bachelors- Mikey and Andy and this week we talk to them about all the dirt you didn’t see on the show.

We asked them what those pods were really like, how filthy they thought that throw blanket was after everyone was continually using it and how they kept their appearances on the show secret for more than a year. We also learned how they found out about the show and what the ‘audition’ process entailed. Word to the wise looking to be chosen for such an experiment on television, apparently every time someone slides into your DMs claiming they are a successful producer for a major television network it isn’t a lie. Both these guys were recruited via Instagram. We’re not saying meet up with the next alleged person who claims they’re gonna make you a star, but maybe drop ‘em a message back and see if they are actually legit. Love, marriage and a trip to Mexico could be in your future.

During our chats with them also took the time to get to know the gents better. We wanted to find out who they are on the inside and all the other important details like which one you’d might want to avoid travelling the world with unless you’re thirsting for being kidnapped. We also got the scoop on who they’re dating currently. Ladies listen up… one of them is currently single and ready to mingle. The other one actually met his girlfriend through a girl he dated on the show. Crazy, right?

The guys were both super fun to talk to and they both talked about how everyone on the show has actually remained close. There’s even a group chat involving every single cast member- think about how brutal those pings would be. Makes that awful family one you’re on not seem quite so intense, doesn’t it?

As for what’s next for the gentlemen, they both seem to be doing well and both said if they were single they would do it all over again.
