Why?- Episode 18 Nude Art Model Callista Womick

Who doesn’t hate picking out what to wear to the office? Wouldn’t we all love the chance to just be naked at work? OK maybe not all of us, but some of us and we bet a lot more than would admit it.

For art model Callista Womick she’s naked at work every single day. She’s built a successful career as a fine art model posing for professionals and students alike for more than a decade.

We sat down for a chat with Callista for some great stories, several laughs and most importantly to learn how exactly does one choose to pursue a career as a nude art model?

Callista was a blast to talk to as she shared the naked truth about her life showing it all for the sake of artistic inspiration.

Yeah, she’s naked at work, but she gets to work in collaboration with artists as they create their masterpieces. She gets to serve as the benchmark for the human figure as painters, sculptors and more tackle their medium of choice to support their own careers. Plus, she sometimes gets to own the final product. And who wouldn’t want to be immortalized on canvas or clay for all to see? Clearly, we know Heidi totally covets this job perk.

Callista shared stories of the art of the pose and the grueling hours she often has to hold in position. She talked about the physical strain posing can put on the body. All you naysayers crying, “How hard can it be to model? You just stand there,” shut it. Go stand in the corner and try to hold your left arm up for 5 minutes without dropping it. Just 5 minutes. Then get back to us on how easy it is.

Her muscles and joints seize up and she’s got a steady regime of yoga as well as every athlete’s best friends Epsom salts and turmeric to power through. A lot of her tips are helpful tools for pretty much anyone whether on their feet or sitting at a desk day in day out.

We delved into what exactly goes through her head while posing. We’ve got news for you, it’s pretty much the same thing that goes through everyone’s mind when trying to get through a long day at work.

We also got the answers to the age-old question: who’s more uncomfortable- the artist or the nude model? Although, we’re still wondering if to ease nerves she pictures her audience with their clothes off.

As with all our guests, she has a fascinating philosophy on life and she’s learned some super interesting things from being fully exposed while having her form interpreted countless ways. Some uber flattering. Some, not so much.

We also learned Luke appears to have quite the fascination with elbows. Have a listen for yourself. He talks about her elbows an awful lot.  There’s clearly unpacking to do there at a later date.

Whether you’re a lover of art, a fan of life au natural, on a personal quest for the meaning of like or simply laugh like a pre-pubescent at the sight of nakedness we’re pretty sure you’ll love what Callista’s laying down.
